What is the history and popularity of the app?

Google Image Chart Editor was originally created to be used as an internal tool that allowed the company to create charts and embed the in its applications. The practical benefits of this type of tool for web developers pushed Google to introduce it publically. The application officially launched on December 6th, 2007. So far the application has received relatively high ratings. Google Image Chart Editor is still in beta.

What are the differences to other apps?

Google Image Chart Editor includes many of the customization options that other chart builders offer. The main difference is the large chart gallery offered to users. Rather than give the user a blank page to start with, Google has created a wide range of line, bar, pie, map, scatter, radar, QR, Venn and Goolge-o-Meter charts. The user can choose a design and begin customizing it to their purposes.
